Belgian harpist Stef Van Vynckt is redefining his chosen instrument through close collaboration with composers and an expansive understanding of the harp’s expressive vocabulary. From fragile suspended textures to amplified raw physicality, Van Vynckt asks us to think of the harp as capable of more than just lyricism, offering performances that emphasize durational presence. The founder of Extended Music Collective and co-founder of Inland Ocean, an international cooperative of performance artists, Van Vynckt approaches music-making as a collaborative and curatorial practice. Forever — is composed of Nows — , Van Vynckt's newest solo evening for harp and electronics, explores how we inhabit space through sound and how focus comes to shape experience. Borrowing its title from a poem by Emily Dickinson, the project interrogates the concept of "forever” not as transcendence, but as a constant accumulation of moments that burst forth from the present. Across the program, new compositions by Christopher Cerrone, Leilehua Lanzilotti, Ken Thomson, Heleen Van Haegenborgh, and John Supko form a sonic palette in which acoustic and digital sound operate as interdependent and revelatory systems.
