A work of magical realism, the New York premiere of Marks of RED is narrated by and features the viewpoints of six women. Award-winning choreographer Shamel Pitts is considered one of the most acclaimed dancers/ choreographers of his generation, and Marks of RED continues his research exploring Black embodiment, aliveness, and human connection. An Afrofuturistic meditation on the “womb space,” the multidisciplinary work includes scenic designs by Mimi Lien, video mapping projection by Lucca Del Carlo, lighting design by Sarai Frazier, and production by TRIBE arts collective.
