At the new Festival Orchestra Up Close series in the David Rubenstein Atrium, select performers from the Festival Orchestra of Lincoln Center expand their concert schedule beyond the annual Summer for the City season for a rarefied evening of unique chamber ensemble performances. Orchestra musicians will match up in previously unseen configurations, offering aficionados of instrumental music an intimate look at the world-class individual talents that make up the Festival Orchestra. At this instrument-specific concert, Shmuel Katz, the Festival Orchestra's lead violist, is joined by three other members of his section for an evening of classical string quartets that glorify the warm and rich sound of the viola. Following the concert, artists will engage in a brief audience Q&A.
