Lincoln Center joins in partnership with Ailey Extension, AILEY's official dance studio, and NewYork-Presbyterian, the Official Hospital of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, to present a one-of-a-kind movement workshop. House dance was born out of the underground music scenes in Chicago and New York City and is deeply connected to the strong rhythm of house music's heavy bass. In this movement class, participants explore their freedom of expression through rhythmic sequences and improvisation driven by infectious dance, lounge, and funk tracks. The class breaks down basic house dance steps like jacking, skating, chase, salsa hop, sidewalk, stomp, and shuffle step to build a solid foundation that will help attendees find their rhythm and freestyle to the music. Experience not required; beginners welcome.

About Ailey Extension
Ailey Extension was founded to continue Alvin Ailey’s legacy that “dance came from the people and should be delivered back to the people” by offering open dance classes for all levels. For over 20 years, Ailey Extension has brought together people of all backgrounds to train with renowned dance instructors from around the world at the home of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York City.
