Under the Radar at Lincoln Center

This January, Under the Radar returns with a signature selection of more than 25 new theatrical productions with performances across the city, including at Lincoln Center.

At the Atrium

All year long, the David Rubenstein Atrium is your home for FREE and groundbreaking music, theater, family shows, dance, comedy, and interactive experiences—highlighting the voices of local and international artists.

Big Umbrella Festival

From April 2–24, 2027, the celebrated festival returns for a multi-week series of performances, workshops, relaxed spaces, and interactive artistic experiences specifically welcoming neurodivergent audiences and their families.

Lincoln Center Immersive

Encompassing excitingly fresh augmented reality experiences, the Lincoln Center Immersive series invites participants to expand their perception of reality and space, offering creative work that serves as an entry point into a hidden realm.

The Art of Wellbeing

Art engages the mind, body, and spirit with guided meditations and movement-based lessons accompanied by live music. Designed and presented in collaboration with NewYork-Presbyterian.

Lincoln Center Moments

A free, welcoming performance series created for individuals with dementia and their caregivers, offering intimate artistic experiences in a supportive setting.

Passport to the Arts

A free and inclusive introduction to the performing arts, this series welcomes children, teens, and adults with disabilities and their families to experience concerts, workshops, and events across Lincoln Center.

Free General Admission Events

Many performances and events, including all programming at the David Rubenstein Atrium, are available for FREE via General Admission—first-come, first-served. Advance reservations are not required for these events; just show up! While we'll do our best to accommodate as many guests as possible, we cannot guarantee admission. Look for the “FREE” label on calendar listings and show pages, or select the “Free” calendar filter to search for a wide range of free programming.

Free Fast Track Option

All Lincoln Center Presents events at the David Rubenstein Atrium offer a Fast Track reservation option, giving priority entry into events. Reservations for Fast Track will open every Monday at noon for that week's events and can be reserved on this page. Please check the event's dedicated web page to confirm if Fast Track is available for the performance you'd like to attend.

Co-Presented by Lincoln Center Presents and Juilliard

Oscar-nominated filmmaker Sam Green joins forces with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and Juilliard Arnhold Creative Associate Caroline Shaw and National Book Critics Awardee and environmentalist Rebecca Solnit in the latest of his singular, yet collective, live cinema experiences featuring a live score performed by the Juilliard Orchestra. In Green’s works, documentary film meets live original scores with Green’s own live narration. Trees is a profoundly moving, “unique and ephemeral” (The New York Times) study of humankind’s relationship to our Earthly cohabitants, the silent witnesses to all of humanity across countless events and generations—putting humanity’s place into perspective. Featuring actress Judi Dench, artist Ersin Ersin (aka Marshmallow Laser Feast), scientists, and stories from around the world, Trees marks Green’s most ambitious film yet.

Sam Green (director, writer, editor) is a New York-based documentary filmmaker. Green’s most recent live documentaries include A Thousand Thoughts (with the Kronos Quartet) (2018), The Measure of All Things (2014), The Love Song of R. Buckminster Fuller (with Yo La Tengo) (2012), and Utopia in Four Movements (2010). With all of these works, Green narrates the film in-person while musicians perform a live soundtrack. Green’s 2004 feature-length film, The Weather Underground, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, was nominated for an Academy Award, was included in the Whitney Biennial, and has screened widely around the world. Caroline Shaw is a musician who moves among roles, genres, and mediums, trying to imagine a world of sound that has never been heard before but has always existed. She works often in collaboration with others, as producer, composer, violinist, and vocalist. Shaw is the recipient of the 2013 Pulitzer Prize in Music, several Grammy awards, an honorary doctorate from Yale, and a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship. This year’s projects include the score to “Fleishman is in Trouble” (FX/Hulu), vocal work with Rosalía (MOTOMAMI), the score to Josephine Decker’s “The Sky Is Everywhere” (A24/Apple), music for the National Theatre’s production of “The Crucible” (dir. Lyndsey Turner), Justin Peck’s “Partita” with NY City Ballet, a new stage work “LIFE” (Gandini Juggling/Merce Cunningham Trust), the premiere of “Microfictions Vol. 3” for NY Philharmonic and Roomful of Teeth, a live orchestral score for Wu Tsang’s silent film “Moby Dick” co-composed with Andrew Yee, two albums on Nonesuch (“Evergreen” and “The Blue Hour”), the score for Helen Simoneau’s dance work “Delicate Power”, tours of Graveyards & Gardens (co-created immersive theatrical work with Vanessa Goodman), and tours with So Percussion featuring songs from “Let The Soil Play Its Simple Part” (Nonesuch), amid occasional chamber music appearances as violist (Chamber Music Society of Minnesota, La Jolla Music Society). Shaw has written over 100 works in the last decade, for Anne Sofie von Otter, Davóne Tines, Yo Yo Ma, Renée Fleming, Dawn Upshaw, LA Phil, Philharmonia Baroque, Seattle Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Aizuri Quartet, The Crossing, Dover Quartet, Calidore Quartet, Brooklyn Rider, Miro Quartet, I Giardini, Ars Nova Copenhagen, Ariadne Greif, Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Britt Festival, and the Vail Dance Festival. She has contributed production to albums by Rosalía, Woodkid, and Nas. Her work as vocalist or composer has appeared in several films, tv series, and podcasts including The Humans, Bombshell, Yellowjackets, Maid, Dark, Beyonce’s Homecoming, Tár, Dolly Parton’s America, and More Perfect. Her favorite color is yellow, and her favorite smell is rosemary.

Rebecca Solnit is the author of more than 25 books, including Orwell’s Roses, Hope in the Dark, Men Explain Things to Me, A Paradise Built in Hell: The Extraordinary Communities that Arise in Disaster, and A Field Guide to Getting Lost. A longtime climate and human rights activist, she serves on the boards of Oil Change International and Third Act. Her newsletter of essays and analyses can be found at meditationsinanemergency.com.

About the Juilliard Orchestra

The Juilliard Orchestra is known for delivering polished and passionate performances of works spanning the repertoire. Comprising nearly 400 students in Juilliard’s bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, the orchestra appears throughout the season on the stages of the school’s Peter Jay Sharp Theater, Alice Tully Hall, David Geffen Hall, and Carnegie Hall. A vital partner to Juilliard’s other divisions, it performs in opera, dance, and drama productions and presents an annual concert of world premieres by Juilliard student composers.

A distinguished roster of renowned conductors lead the orchestra this season, including Teddy Abrams, Luis Castillo-Briceño, David Danzmayr, Patrick Furrer, Gemma New, Louis Langrée, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Dalia Stasevska, Gary Wedow, and Xian Zhang, as well as faculty conductors David Robertson, Juilliard’s director of conducting studies and distinguished visiting faculty, and Jeffrey Milarsky. The Juilliard Orchestra has toured across the U.S. and throughout Europe, South America, and Asia, where it was the first Western conservatory ensemble to perform in the People’s Republic of China following its opening in 1987, returning in 2008. This summer, the orchestra travels to London to perform alongside the Royal Academy of Music at the BBC Proms in Royal Albert Hall. Other ensembles under the Juilliard Orchestra umbrella include the conductorless Juilliard Chamber Orchestra, Wind Orchestra, Lab Orchestra, and the contemporary music group AXIOM.
