Part of the Pasculano Collaborative for Contemporary Dance

Presented as part of the Lincoln Center Contemporary Dance Festival, the New York premiere of Sombreristas awakens a long–forgotten code of rules solidified by secret handshakes, footraces, and subtle nods. Set on a cast of a dozen dancers and an equal cohort of lively hats, the work invites audiences to shed the skin of adult propriety and experience a childlike universe governed by the playful logic of sidewalk games. The program will also include repertory showcasing the company's versatility and virtuosity—to be announced soon. Based in New York and founded in 2018 by Puerto Rican choreographer Omar Román de Jesús, BOCA TUYA is a Cultural Movement Collective centered on the promise of dreams, the thrill of rhythm, and the connectivity of storytelling.
