Pianist and composer Mathis Picard shares an evening of music that explores the lasting musical heritage of San Juan Hill and uplifts its diverse cultures. Performing alongside special guests Godwin Louis and Marco López, he leads the audience on a musical journey through the historic neighborhood, uncovering the rhythms and sounds of the communities that lived there in the first half of the 20th century. The program illuminates how the reciprocal influence of music from diverse cultures living in close proximity led to extraordinary innovation in art and creativity—and some of the most popular and enduring songs and styles in music history.
