Cuban music ensembles, Latin bands, and Mambo Nights were a hallmark of daily life in and around the historic San Juan Hill neighborhood. Join us on the dance floor to celebrate the legacy of the Latin music that was popular in San Juan Hill and experience it in a new light with a special ¡VAYA! featuring bandleader and cultural organizer Gerardo Contino. A musical storyteller, Contino's work often draws from Afro-Caribbean and jazz traditions, honoring their histories while keeping them alive in contemporary spaces. This electrifying evening of contemporary Cuban music reflects the influence of global musical traditions heard across New York—evoking the fusion of musical cultures that characterized the innovative Latin music heard in San Juan Hill.
